Charcoal Spit Cooked Food

By Nora Seabolt

Cooking food with a charcoal spit is not just an easy way to get taste-tempting, great looking food, but it is also one of the healthiest forms of cooking. Since there is little oil or grease, if any, introduced into the cooking process, calorie and fat content are drastically reduced.

There are a number of foods that can be cooked this way, and those include poultry, fish, pork, lamb, beef, and even vegetables can be placed in a spit hire to being out the flavor. However, it is the whole pig which is seen most often, and the reasons for this are plenty.

Baking and roasting have many similarities, but higher temperatures are often used for the latter. This is because it helps to cook meats more thoroughly and evenly since it is rotating.

You should consider several things if you are going to set up a charcoal spit. First, you have to determine if the weather is going to be your friend, a windy day requires special precautions. With that said, a talented spitter can work with most weather conditions.

When planning a party where you will be roasting whatever cut you choose, consider that it is often better to have too much of a good thing than to not have enough to go around. People are just happier when their stomachs are full than when they keep hearing their bellies rumble. Everyone wants guests going away speaking well of you, so when you put on the feed do it with style.

Generally speaking, parts are well planned events, so when you are planning to use a charcoal spit, preparations should be done well in advance. That way you will not disappoint attendees because you could not find the right carcass you had been promising.

The main thing to remember when cooking a whole carcass is that it takes time to cook. A whole carcass weighing 125 pounds will take between 5 and 6 hours to reach desired internal temperatures. It is not a good idea to wait until just before the party starts to get one going, unless the party will last all day.

The reason so many people like cooking outdoors is because it is a lot of fun. The truth is that there are numerous reasons people enjoy outdoor cooking equipment. One of those reasons is the sheer enjoyment that comes from simulating how food was cooked at an earlier time in human history.

Other reasons for standing at a grill or spit making sure the food is cooked just right have to include the pleasure it gives you to see the way others rave about your cooking prowess. When you add a spit to your repertoire of outdoor cooking equipment, you are also going to increase the number of smiles emanating from those who enjoy your foods.
